I've put up more pictures from my travels and wanderings in London. A few pictures and links under the cut )
(as usual for me being lazy, other than automatic rotation and scaling these are as they came off the camera).

I was lazy late last year and never put up some of my pictures so I've been productively using some downtime before I get home to index them;

links and previews )

Enjoy!

Cambridge, London and other folks. Go see Rachael Sage if you like her kind of music. I'd go but I'll be in the US or jetlagged...

Season 2 started in the US on Monday, and in my livingroom last night. No spoilers but I like where they seem to be taking it...

I'm watching the beginnings of Red Sonja on tv and when Arnie starts hacking people up all I can think is: "Conan! The Librarian!"

Anyone be interested in a bag of various SBus cards? I'll keep a couple since I've got a couple of Ultra 2s here, but the rest I've really no need for.

Include at least some fast wide scsi/hme combo cards, qfe card, etc. Small donation plus shipping?
Also got a 200MHz processor for a U2, etc.

I've got some Sun 12 and 6 disk external SCSI SCA multipacks in London I don't need anymore (switching over to x86 SATA machines) if anyone is interested in buying some cheap.

I've got some disks (probably some 4Gb, 9Gb, 18Gb and a couple of half height 36Gb) disks kicking around, mostly Sun original disk and many with brackets that I'll pass on with them for nothing extra. Best offer ~ 20 quid each?

In Boston I've got some 12 disk multipacks with disks (each has 1x 4Gb, 2x 9Gb and 1x 18Gb) that will be free the next time I get out there. Best offer ~ $30 each?

I bought some half price wild salmon fillets the other day to have for dinner tonight and was just reading the packaging when I noticed the comment "Allergy advice contains fish."

Well yes, I'd hope my salmon contains approximately 100% fish.

As I wander around my flat this afternoon, making food, clearing up, putting various things away I've got iTunes on party shuffle playing random music.

Looking at the list right now, to try and rate more things that were coming up, I see that Blur, "Repetition" is on the upcoming list. Twice in a row.

There's an online petition on the prime minister's website to equalise the definitions of marriage in British law for same sex couples:

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/marriage/

Currently same sex couples can only have a civil partnership, which while it has the same legal definition is still called something else. If these petitions make any difference or not, I doubt it, but it can't hurt to fill it in if you agree with it.

Personally I think the legal definition of marriage between different-sex couples should be changed to also be a civil partnership, keep the government out of everything except the legal bit and let people call their partnership whatever they want.

I'd been ruminating about some ideas about this crush meme thing and before I got them together [livejournal.com profile] dr_memory said it already. Saves me some time ;)

This is also the mark of 1000 posts to this journal, the old picture from a recent (friends only) post is rather appropriate too, so much has changed since 2002 when I started this addiction writing this thing.

4 more years, I guess.

As I walked towards work through Green Park this morning (the Victoria line was stuffed for once) I realised it was that time of year. The ephermeral point when poeple who don't like the cold and are in Boston should visit England.

Boston is currently being snowed on and frozen whereas in the damp park this morning the daffodils are coming up and the grass is green. I even took my hat off because I was too warm.

London lazyweb: what do you use to find interesting live music? Time Out have a London site and there's netgoth for some types of music but what else is good?

Silly films and an entertaining quote:

Lord Caversham: Now, if you don't make her an ideal husband, I'll cut you off with a shilling.
Mabel: An ideal husband? Oh, I don't think I should like that.
Lord Caversham: What do you want him to be then, my dear?
Mabel: I think he can be whatever he chooses.
Lord Caversham: You don't deserve her, sir.
Lord Arthur Goring: My dear father, if we men married the women we deserved... we should have a very bad time of it.

I was in Camden this evening, running an errand on the way home, and saw an odd car. Bright red, very low to the ground, very throaty rumble to the engine, quite the supercar shape... and said 'Ford' on it. Certainly not what I think of about Ford cars but a bit of websearching suggests it was a Ford GT.

Reminded me most of the shape of a hard top Ferrari F430 but a bit more curved and older styled. It had old silver on black number plates so it must be quite old to legally do that.

Then I headed to the tube and went north. Got off at Hampstead, crossed the road... and saw it again, still going north. See, the tube really is faster than a sportscar in London :)

I've been told there's no such thing as a double positive. Yeah, right."

Rachael Sage is another singer I've seen perform in Boston and recommended... go see her tomorrow in Cam, this weekend in London and Brighton or next week in Swindon.

There are some sample songs and music videos up if you don't know her music.

No, there really were puppets doing 69 on stage... Avenue Q was very funny and that's someone from someone who hates musicals.

I note that the group of us who have all had or have something to do with running bits of the Internet were laughing the hardest at "The Internet is for Porn".
